The Bump Serum?

The Bump Serum is a three-product shaving system that's designed to reduce razor bumps in men of color by cleaning the skin and razor when shaving, decreasing inflammation after shaving, and trapping moisture so hairs can emerge easier through the pores for a smoother next shave. The products and the Bump Kit will eliminate the need for caustic depilatories and other inefficient shaving solutions that lead to damaged skin.

How Does

The Bump Serum Work?

We learned that one of the root causes of pseudofolliculitis barbae, or razor bumps, is inflammation, and since there are so many causes of inflammation during the shaving process, we narrowed our focus on reducing it. Short, curly hair with sharp tips can grow back into the skin, creating ingrown hairs and razor bumps. These bumps may become infected, leading to further inflammation, but The Bump Serum’s products contain natural ingredients that reduces inflammation while moisturizing the skin for new hairs to grow through the skin without curling back in. This has routinely resulted in smoother skin.

Charles Johnson is an MBA and founder of The Bump Serum products. Like most Black men, he suffered with razor bumps his entire life. Under the supervision of his friend and medical researcher, Dr. Reginald Austin, they consulted with numerous chemists and dermatologists to create The Bump Serum shaving system.

Dr. Reginald Austin is an American-Swedish medical researcher and senior lecturer from Chicago. He studied endocrinology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden and business at Blekinge Technical Institute. His research focused on developing innovative treatments for type 2 diabetes. Dr. Austin currently holds appointments in Tarzania and Uganda.

Dr. Lightfoot received his doctorate in Developmental Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, researching aberrant genetic contributions and their effect on stem cells, early embryonic initiation, growth and development. His scientific pursuits continued, focusing on fetal brain formation and cephalic cellular differentiation, autism developmental disorders, and rare genetic disease.
